The passiflora plant is traditionally used for its mildly sedative effects for treating anxiety and insomnia by inhibiting reuptake of neurotransmitter GABA. It grows best when given vertical space to climb. Passionflower has associated with Chiron, the wounded healer, as well as the religious Christ.
